Welcome to Episode 8 Are you Really Wanting to Go Back to School?

In Australia, the Christmas and New Year holidays are over and Professionals are gradually returning to work. At this time senior teachers are beginning to think about:
Will 2021 be better than 2020?
How energized am I about another full year of teaching?
Am I ready to retire or not?

Towards the end of my teaching career, I knew my enthusiasm and verve for my role had waned to the point where the thought of returning to work
became a burden. I felt drained and didn’t have the same enthusiasm for my job, as to me teaching had become too data driven and too demanding on my time and energy. I began to say, “there must be more to life than teaching,” but at the time I didn’t know what it was. I was too young to retire and wasn’t sure what to do next. It took more than a little time for me to have the courage to resign from teaching.

After deciding to study Counselling and Life Coaching, I knew I had the skills to do what I truly wanted to do, that is, help people facing challenges and struggles in their family and work life. Now it makes my heart sing when I see my clients making positive change and living a more fulfilling life with verve.

Desire to Retire is a personalized service supporting senior professionals who are not sure what their next step is. I look after Senior Professionals, teachers, social workers health workers. Together we work through the challenges and work out a clear plan for the time ahead whether it be retirement, semi- retirement or a new role. It is exciting to think what the future may hold for my clients.

During the 2020 Covid 19 lockdown I produced the first of a special three-part podcast series on Retirement: how it has changed, the steps involved and the resources required for a transition to Retirement. Listen at no cost.
